With the prices of super-premium fruit, barrels, glass and stainless steel climbing, it is tempting to look for lesser alternatives. This is not part of the Gorman Winery concept. We remain committed to producing some of the finest wines in the world. Yep… the world. Washington state is more than capable of competing against the finest wines in the world.
These are exciting times in Washington state and we are proud to be part of it. With much of our wines designated to our mailing list and select accounts, supply has always been an issue. We hope to increase quantities slowly, while maintaining superior quality. We welcome new customers as we grow.
Pamplin Family Winery was founded to pursue a singular goal – to craft the finest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines with grapes sourced from the top vineyards in the Columbia Valley Appellations of Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain, Rattlesnake Hills and Walla Walla Valley. The vision for this winery is a collaborative effort between Bob Pamplin and his son-in-law Art North, who both share a passion for great wine. We are a family-owned and operated winery, dedicated to handcrafting superior quality wines through uncompromising attention to detail in the vineyards and winery.
We are devoted in our focus to present only the finest wines for you to enjoy with your family and friends. We are, first and foremost, wine enthusiasts. As a result, we approach winemaking from a consumer perspective – handcrafting wines for true wine fans, not from a business-directed approach with specified annual production goals. We strive to provide wines that are profound expressions of the vintage without constraint. We assemble the best for each vintage regardless of vineyard, variety or case quantity goals. The end result of applying such high standards is extremely limited production, ultra premium wines.

About Winemaker Judy Phelps:
Don't be fooled by the whimsy of the wine names, they belie Judy's commitment to the vineyards and to making exceptional wines. Judy is focused on helping to develop and define the terrior of the Lake Chelan AVA by making primarily single vineyard, single varietal wines to show the expression of each varietal in the vineyard. She has a Master of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Connecticut Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department and retired from her corporate career in research and development at Pfizer, Inc. Judy completed the Winemaking Certificate program at the UC Davis and is past president of the Lake Chelan Wine Growers Association.
It is commonly held in the wine industry that wine makers are by nature, a little eccentric. And truly, who would argue with that? Wine making is tough stuff; it requires patience, intuition, diligence, trust and most of all passion. You don’t start a career, have children and then decide that what you’d really like to do with all of the spare time on your hands is to start a winery, if you’re not passionate and maybe a little eccentric.
After entering the professional world I decided that I needed to follow my childhood dream and start a winery and with the help of those around me I achieved this goal. Since 2006 Elsom Cellars has been producing 100% local Washington wine from Washington’s top vineyards. Through this process I have found a lifelong love of Washington’s Malbec grape and continue to find endless excitement in exploring its many complexities and countless flavors. I can’t wait to share my passion with you in our winery, from our table to yours.
